London Artists' Studio Tour kicks off with 20th Anniversary Exhibition at The Art Exchange

In 1993, two local artists, Kevin Bice and Lorraine Roy, realized that many people were interested in exploring art but were intimidated by galleries or formal art events.  They also knew that the people who came to their studios were often as interested in the process of creating art as they were in the art works themselves.

From a small group of 10 North London artists, the annual London Artists' Studio Tour was born. Since then the tour has grown each year to feature over 25 artists with studios in all parts of the city.  Over the past 20 years, thousands of visitors have explored over 120 studios of painters, potters, sculptors, fibre artists, printmakers, weavers, photographers, doll makers, jewelers and artists in glass, steel and wood.

To celebrate, the Studio Tour is mounting a 20th Anniversary Exhibition and Sale at The Art Exchange, March 5 to 23. Works by over 60 artists celebrate the many London artists who have shown their work and opened their studios since the fall of 1993. An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, March 8 at 7:30pm.

The Studio Tour itself opens on Friday night, April 12 and continues throughout the weekend with a wide variety of art in 27 studios.
